07VOICE AI OPERATING GUIDEPURPOSE / DISCLOSURE / KNOWLEDGE

VOICE AI OPERATING GUIDE

A useful voice agent knows when to stop talking.

The service begins with one defined call task, a lawful contact and recording basis, approved knowledge and a person who can take over.

01 / PURPOSE

Define the call task and the forbidden decisions.

Qualification, booking, routing, reminders and bounded support can be designed. Binding advice, sensitive decisions, payment commitments and unapproved claims stay with an authorised person.

02 / DISCLOSURE

Make identity, recording and consent clear.

The opening, recording state, purpose, opt-out and data path follow the market and the client’s qualified legal advice. Synthetic speech must not mislead the caller about who or what is speaking.

03 / KNOWLEDGE

Answer from approved sources and expose uncertainty.

Versioned knowledge, retrieval rules, pronunciation and action permissions are tested. The agent asks, confirms, refuses or transfers when confidence or authority is insufficient.

04 / TELEPHONY

Design latency, interruption and human transfer together.

Numbers, carriers, speech services, languages, noise, barge-in, voicemail, transfer and outage handling form one call path. Provider and usage charges remain visible.

05 / OPERATIONS

Measure resolved tasks, transfers, errors and cost.

Acceptance uses scripted and adversarial calls. Live operation tracks consent, completion, transfer, complaints, unsafe outputs, latency, spend and rollback without treating call volume as success.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Questions to settle before implementation

01Can the agent make outbound sales calls?

Only where the market, consent or lawful-contact basis, suppression rules and client policy permit it. Campaign lists and contact authority must be supplied and approved by the client.

02Will callers know they are speaking to AI?

The design uses clear disclosure appropriate to the use case and market. It does not impersonate a person or conceal recording and data use requirements.

03What happens when the agent is uncertain?

It asks a bounded clarification, declines the unsupported action or transfers to the agreed human queue. High-impact decisions remain outside its authority.

04How is pricing calculated?

After fit review, the proposal separates design and integration work from telephony, model, speech, number, recording and other usage costs. No unlimited-call promise is implied.

05What must the client provide?

A call purpose, target markets, approved scripts and knowledge, legal and privacy decisions, escalation owners, system access, representative test cases and expected volumes.
