LOGO DESIGN / MASTER MARK / PRODUCTION STANDARD

A logo is finished when it can leave the design presentation and remain clear, controlled and usable in the hands of other people.

NobleJackal’s USD 1,000 project rate covers a focused logo commission: one approved primary mark, the responsive variants required by the agreed use cases, and organised AI, SVG, EPS, PDF and PNG master files in colour, monochrome and transparent-background forms. It is deliberately not sold as a complete visual identity package. Strategy, naming, an extended typography or colour system, illustration, iconography, motion, packaging, templates, production and large brand-guideline programmes are separate unless the written scope adds them.

01 / BRIEF AND BOUNDARY

Before drawing a mark, settle what must be recognised, where it must work and which decisions the fixed project actually includes.

The starting point is a compact design brief, not a request to make something look premium. We record the exact company, brand, product or programme the mark identifies; the approved name and spelling; the intended audience; the offer; the category; the relevant market context; and the practical situations in which the mark will be seen. A new organisation, a redraw of an established emblem and a rebrand with existing recognition are different assignments. If positioning or naming is unresolved, that dependency is exposed before visual exploration rather than hidden inside a logo round.

The use-case register determines what the master mark must survive. It may include a website header, mobile favicon, social avatar, email signature, sales document, storefront, vehicle, garment, packaging or another expressly commissioned context. We note likely minimum sizes, viewing distance, light and dark backgrounds, one-colour production, screen and print requirements, and whether the full name must remain readable. Mock-ups help judge context, but only listed production files and applications become deliverables.

Decision criteria are written before options are presented. They can cover recognition, legibility, distinction from known category conventions, fit with the approved brand position, reproduction at required sizes, relationship between wordmark and symbol, language and script needs, and continuity with any retained equity. Taste still matters, but feedback must point to a criterion, use case or risk. A committee preference is not allowed to become an invisible new brief halfway through the project.

The USD 1,000 rate applies to this bounded logo commission. The proposal names the decision owner, supplied source material, concept and refinement stages, feedback route, included variants, file formats, review rounds, timetable and acceptance gate. Additional concepts, repeated changes after approval, extra entities, unlisted language versions, a full identity system or production work require written change control. This makes the price useful rather than leaving both parties to guess what the word logo contains.

01

Identity object

Name the one company, brand, product or programme covered by the commission and record the approved spelling and relationship to any parent mark.

02

Use-case register

List the real digital, print, spatial and small-format contexts that the approved mark must be tested against.

03

Decision criteria

Agree legibility, recognition, category distinction, strategic fit, reproduction and continuity requirements before judging concepts.

04

Scope ledger

Fix the stages, variants, formats, review rounds, decision owner, exclusions and route for approving additional work.

02 / MARK DEVELOPMENT

A master mark is a related set of forms, not one decorative image stretched into every space.

Exploration translates the approved brief into a small number of reasoned visual routes. A route may work through typography, an abstract or figurative symbol, a monogram, an emblem, a wordmark or a combined mark. Each route explains the design logic and the trade-offs it introduces. We do not pad a presentation with superficial variations or invent a historical story after drawing. Preliminary sketches, construction studies and discarded routes remain working material unless the proposal expressly includes them in the handover.

The selected direction is developed as a system of necessary lock-ups. Depending on the recorded contexts, that may include a primary horizontal or vertical arrangement, a symbol or compact form, a wordmark, and a deliberately simplified small-size version. Clear space, minimum size, alignment and background behaviour are checked around the approved forms. Responsive does not mean that every team member may rearrange the logo; it means that a controlled alternative exists when the primary lock-up cannot work responsibly.

Stress tests expose fragility before delivery. We inspect the mark in black, white and one-colour output; on light, dark, photographic and low-quality backgrounds; at favicon and avatar scale; on ordinary office printers; and in representative screen and print contexts named in the brief. Fine gaps, thin strokes, counters, gradients and detailed symbols can disappear when reduced or reproduced badly. A test identifies the known limit and the right variant; it cannot guarantee identical output from every device, material, printer or vendor.

Revision is a decision process, not a sequence of unrecorded requests. Feedback is consolidated by the named owner and tied to the brief. We distinguish a defect or failed criterion from a change in preference, name, audience or scope. Once a direction is approved, later work refines proportion, spacing, optical balance, letterforms and production behaviour without silently reopening the entire concept stage. The decision record keeps approved, rejected and superseded forms from circulating together.

01

Reasoned routes

Present distinct visual ideas with their connection to the brief, intended behaviour, limitations and decision questions.

02

Lock-up family

Create only the primary, compact, symbol, wordmark or orientation variants justified by the agreed contexts.

03

Reduction tests

Check stroke, counter, spacing and recognition at the smallest stated digital and physical sizes.

04

Decision record

Keep consolidated feedback, approved changes, rejected routes and final authority traceable through the project.

03 / LANGUAGE, COLOUR AND RIGHTS

A logo must cross scripts, colour workflows and ownership boundaries without pretending that one file solves every identity problem.

When the approved name appears in more than one script, the relationship is designed rather than mechanically typeset. Latin, Arabic and Cyrillic forms differ in rhythm, baseline, joining behaviour, proportion and reading direction. The scope states whether the project includes one script, a bilingual lock-up or separately drawn language forms, who supplies and approves the spelling, and which markets are reviewed. A transliteration or translation decision belongs to the naming and language record; logo design should not quietly invent it.

Colour is documented for the workflows actually commissioned. Screen use normally requires RGB or hexadecimal values; print may require CMYK definitions and, where agreed, spot-colour references. ICC colour management helps applications and devices interpret colour data, but no numeric value can make every uncalibrated screen, paper, ink, substrate or production process look identical. We provide a controlled reference and representative proofs; printers and manufacturers remain responsible for their own production conditions unless proofing is separately commissioned.

Accessibility is assessed in the applications that carry information, not reduced to a claim that a logo is accessible. WCAG excludes text that is part of a logo from its text-contrast requirement, while interface text, controls, focus states, charts and other meaningful elements still need suitable contrast and alternatives. We test representative backgrounds and do not rely on the mark alone to communicate a status or instruction. Accessibility review of a website, document, template or product interface remains a separate deliverable unless listed.

Creative development and legal clearance also remain distinct. We can inspect agreed public sources, including figurative-mark searches where available, to remove obvious conflicts and document what was checked. WIPO advises searching relevant national or regional registers in addition to its global database. Qualified counsel must assess similarity, classes, registrability, filing and legal risk. Copyright assignment, trademark ownership, font licences, stock assets, commissioned illustration and third-party restrictions are recorded in the written agreement; no mark is described as legally clear or globally unique without responsible evidence.

01

Script relationship

State the approved spellings, scripts, reading direction, hierarchy, reviewers and whether bilingual or separate forms are included.

02

Colour record

Document the commissioned screen, print and spot-colour definitions together with proofing assumptions and known production limits.

03

Application accessibility

Test contrast and non-colour communication in representative uses while keeping logo rules separate from interface conformance.

04

Rights ledger

Record authorship, assignment, licences, third-party material, preliminary searches, legal status and every unresolved dependency.

04 / MASTER FILES

The handover should let an authorised designer, developer or printer choose the right asset without rebuilding the mark.

The approved geometry is kept in vector masters. SVG supports resolution-independent use on the web; AI and EPS support common professional editing and production workflows; PDF provides a widely exchangeable reference. PNG exports cover transparent-background raster use at the agreed sizes. A JPEG is not treated as an editable master, and a screenshot is never accepted as the only source. File contents are inspected rather than trusted because an extension alone does not prove that artwork is truly vector, outlined, transparent or colour-correct.

The asset package is organised by purpose. Names identify the mark, lock-up, orientation, colour state, background condition, colour space and version. Obsolete drafts and presentation mock-ups are separated from final production assets. Where text remains live, font names, versions and licensing conditions are recorded; where outlines are used, an editable source is retained according to the agreed ownership terms. The package does not include a font licence simply because a font appears in a design.

Quality control checks geometry, bounding boxes, artboards, hidden objects, linked images, clipping paths, transparency, overprint risks, raster resolution, colour profiles and export dimensions where relevant. SVG files are opened in representative browsers; print-oriented files are inspected in an appropriate production application; PNGs are checked on light and dark backgrounds. These checks verify the delivered files, not every future edit or third-party production process.

A concise usage note accompanies the focused commission. It identifies the approved versions, preferred mark, safe space, minimum sizes, permitted backgrounds, colour references, prohibited distortions and file-selection logic. A comprehensive identity manual, design-token library, template system, imagery direction, iconography, motion principles and rollout programme are broader assignments. The handover says this plainly so that a useful master-mark package is not misrepresented as an entire brand operating system.

01

Vector masters

Supply the approved AI, SVG, EPS and PDF files with geometry, artboards, colour state and editability checked.

02

Raster exports

Supply agreed transparent PNG sizes and verify edges, dimensions, colour appearance and background behaviour.

03

Asset taxonomy

Use stable names and folders for lock-up, orientation, colour, background, colour space, size and version.

04

Usage note

Explain preferred forms, clear space, minimum size, backgrounds, prohibited changes and which file to use where.

05 / PRICE, ACCEPTANCE AND CHANGE

The USD 1,000 project is complete when the agreed master mark and variants pass their stated tests and the client receives a controlled file set.

The public rate is USD 1,000 per project for the focused commission described here. It includes one approved primary logo, responsive variants required by the written use-case register, AI, SVG, EPS, PDF and PNG master files, and colour, monochrome and transparent-background exports. The proposal confirms the concept and refinement route, included review rounds, final decision owner, schedule and delivery list. Tax and third-party charges are treated according to the written commercial terms rather than hidden inside a vague package.

Acceptance is based on observable checks. The approved spelling and hierarchy must be correct; the mark and listed variants must match the decision record; the primary and compact forms must remain legible at the stated sizes; the one-colour and reverse versions must reproduce; and each promised file must open, carry the intended content and sit in the right folder. Written approval closes the design state. A later change to the name, brief, audience, structure or selected direction is new work rather than correction of an accepted file.

The rate does not include brand strategy, naming, full visual-identity development, extensive typography or colour systems, custom type, icon sets, illustration, photography, motion, packaging, signage, stationery, social templates, presentation templates, website design, campaign production, printing, manufacturing, trademark legal work, filing or unlimited revisions unless the proposal expressly adds them. Extra languages, entities, applications, concepts, versions and production support are estimated before they begin.

NobleJackal can verify the agreed design process, approved master geometry, listed variants, file package and documented tests. We cannot guarantee trademark registration, exclusive rights, worldwide uniqueness, recognition, memorability, preference, reputation, conversion, sales, search ranking or AI citation. Third-party software, printers, displays, materials and later edits may change output. No external standard or authority referenced here endorses NobleJackal, and no mock-up is evidence that an uncommissioned application has been produced.

BUYER QUESTIONS

What should be clear before commissioning a USD 1,000 logo and master-mark project?

01What is included in the USD 1,000 logo project?

The focused commission includes one approved primary logo, the responsive variants justified by the written use-case register, AI, SVG, EPS, PDF and PNG master files, and colour, monochrome and transparent-background exports. The proposal fixes the design stages, included review rounds, decision owner, schedule, file list and acceptance tests before work starts. Tax and third-party costs follow the written commercial terms. Extra concepts, entities, scripts, applications or changes after approval are not silently included.

02Is this a complete visual identity or brand-guideline programme?

No. It is a professionally prepared logo and master-mark commission for a business that does not yet need a full identity system. Brand strategy, naming, extended typography and colour systems, custom type, imagery, illustration, iconography, motion, templates, packaging, signage, campaigns, websites and comprehensive guidelines are separate unless the proposal adds them. The concise usage note explains the delivered mark; it does not pretend to govern every future brand application.

03Which logo variants and files will we receive?

The exact family follows the agreed contexts and can include a primary lock-up, compact arrangement, symbol or wordmark and a simplified small-size form. Final assets are supplied in AI, SVG, EPS, PDF and PNG, with agreed colour, one-colour, reverse and transparent-background states. Folder and file names identify purpose, version, colour space and background. Mock-ups, unused concepts, fonts and editable application templates are excluded unless listed.

04Does NobleJackal guarantee that the logo is unique or legally available?

No. We can document an agreed preliminary search of public word and figurative-mark sources and remove obvious conflicts, but this is not comprehensive trademark clearance or legal advice. Qualified counsel must assess similarity, relevant goods and services, territories, registrability, filing and risk. No search proves worldwide uniqueness, ownership or registration. Filing, legal opinions, disputes, licences and third-party acquisition are separate.

05How are multilingual forms, colour and accessibility handled?

The proposal states which scripts and language lock-ups are included and who approves spelling and linguistic form. Colour values are documented for the commissioned screen and print workflows, with production limits stated. Representative applications are checked for contrast and non-colour communication, while the logo itself is not presented as proof that a website or document conforms to WCAG. Additional scripts, calibrated proofing and application-wide accessibility testing are separate unless expressly included.
