Conversion system brief / Conversion Architecture
01 / Commercial decision and conversion contract
A conversion is not automatically a sale and a form submission is not automatically a qualified opportunity. We begin with the business decision: request a relevant consultation, start a viable trial, complete a purchase, submit an eligible application, book an appropriate appointment or progress an existing account. Primary and supporting actions are named separately. A brochure download may indicate interest; it must not be reported as equivalent to revenue. The contract identifies who should act, what they need to know, what makes the action useful and which downstream owner can confirm its quality.
The denominator matters as much as the event. A site-wide conversion rate can hide differences between branded and non-branded traffic, existing customers and first-time visitors, mobile and desktop, countries, campaigns, service lines or pages with radically different intent. We agree the population, time window, exclusions and segmentation before comparing performance. Internal visits, bots, duplicate events, spam enquiries and accidental taps are not allowed to inflate the baseline. Where sales mature slowly, the measurement model links early behaviour to later qualification without pretending that same-session analytics can prove commercial value.
Guardrails prevent an apparent win from damaging the business. A shorter form may increase submissions while lowering fit; an aggressive message may increase clicks while weakening trust; a discount may improve immediate orders while reducing margin or attracting the wrong account. Alongside the primary measure we track quality, cancellation, return, support burden, accessibility, performance, consent, brand risk and sales acceptance where relevant. The project can improve clarity and reduce friction, but it cannot create market demand, repair an uncompetitive offer or guarantee a conversion lift, leads, sales or revenue.
Name the intended person, the useful action, the commercial qualification rule, the confirming system and the owner who can judge the result.
Fix eligible sessions or users, source and device segments, time window, exclusions and repeat-action handling before a rate is compared.
Return CRM, sales, fulfilment or account evidence to the journey so cheap or irrelevant submissions do not masquerade as progress.
Record the experience, margin, accessibility, privacy, support and brand signals that must not deteriorate while the primary measure changes.
02 / Instrumentation, baseline and data trust
We inventory the current measurement path from page view to downstream decision. Events, parameters, form states, ecommerce steps, calls, calendars, chat, CRM records and offline outcomes are mapped to one naming and ownership model. Every important event has a trigger, expected parameters, consent condition, deduplication rule, source and test case. We prefer established event names where they fit, but a familiar label does not make an implementation correct. Browser, tag manager, server, platform and CRM records are reconciled far enough to expose missing, duplicated or reordered events.
Consent and privacy constraints shape what can be observed. Necessary functionality is separated from optional analytics or marketing tags, and the agreed consent state is tested before and after a choice. Session recordings, heatmaps, surveys and user interviews are used only when the client has a valid, disclosed and technically enforced basis for them. Sensitive form values, confidential brief content and unnecessary personal data do not belong in analytics payloads. Jurisdiction-specific legal decisions remain with the client's qualified adviser; the technical implementation follows the approved rule rather than inventing one inside the analytics account.
A baseline includes data quality, not only totals. We examine event coverage, funnel order, referral handling, campaign parameters, device and browser differences, landing-page intent, page speed, errors, form failures and known changes during the comparison period. Low volume, seasonality, campaigns, price changes or sales-process shifts are written into the interpretation. If the data cannot support a causal test, the project may use a research-led implementation with before-and-after observation, but it will be labelled as such. Correlation and an attractive chart are not presented as experimental proof.
Define each event, trigger, parameter, consent state, destination, owner and commercial meaning in a versioned measurement record.
Test normal, error, abandonment and repeat paths across supported devices; compare browser evidence with analytics and downstream records.
Preserve dates, segments, campaigns, releases, known defects and data exclusions so later comparisons do not rewrite the starting point.
Label randomised experiments, quasi-experiments, before-and-after observations, qualitative findings and expert judgements as different evidence types.
03 / Research, friction and hypothesis design
Research combines what people do, what prevents the interface from working and what buyers say they need. We inspect funnels, paths, on-site search, form abandonment, validation errors, performance, device differences and support or sales themes. Where approved, recordings and heatmaps help locate hesitation but do not explain motive on their own. Interviews, usability tasks, enquiry reviews and sales objections add context. Search queries and landing-page sources reveal the promise that brought the visitor; the page must answer that promise rather than forcing everyone through the same generic pitch.
Friction is classified before solutions are designed. The obstacle may be relevance, comprehension, missing evidence, commercial uncertainty, interaction cost, technical failure, accessibility, risk, timing or simple lack of fit. Removing all friction is not the objective. A considered purchase may need qualification, comparison and internal approval. Useful friction protects both parties by setting scope, price, eligibility or commitment clearly. The work removes accidental difficulty and unanswered doubt without hiding conditions or manipulating a person into an unsuitable decision.
Each proposed change becomes a hypothesis with a mechanism. It states the observed problem, affected audience, evidence, proposed intervention, expected behavioural change, primary measure, guardrails and conditions that would weaken the explanation. A new headline, proof sequence, pricing treatment, form, navigation path or performance repair is not a strategy by itself. The hypothesis explains why that change should help this audience at this point. Competing explanations and dependencies are recorded so the team learns from a neutral or negative result instead of quietly discarding it.
Locate the step, audience, device and traffic context; classify whether the barrier is informational, commercial, interactional, technical or intentional.
Use approved interview, enquiry, sales and support language to understand objections without copying private or personal material into public content.
Distinguish observed behaviour, reported motive, technical defect and team opinion, then show where two sources converge or conflict.
Write the mechanism, intervention, audience, expected movement, guardrails and rejection condition before design effort begins.
04 / Journey architecture, interface and experiments
The journey begins with message match. The entry promise, page headline, offer, evidence and next action should belong to the same intent. We order the information a buyer needs: what this is, who it is for, the problem it resolves, how it works, what is included, what is not, why the organisation is credible, what risk remains and what happens after the action. Calls to action form a hierarchy rather than a wall of identical buttons. High-consideration buyers can inspect scope, method, evidence, pricing logic and alternatives before being asked for contact details.
Forms and transactional steps are designed around the information genuinely required at that moment. Labels remain visible, errors explain how to recover, focus moves predictably and keyboard or assistive-technology users can complete the same task. Mobile layout, loading delay, third-party widgets, calendars, payment states, localisation and right-to-left behaviour are tested as part of the journey. Reducing fields is not automatically better: the right fields can qualify work, route it safely and set expectations. We remove redundant demands while retaining what the next operational owner actually needs.
Not every site has the volume or stable conditions for a reliable split test. Before an experiment, we define the unit of assignment, control and variants, primary outcome, guardrails, target population, expected effect, sample or duration rule, contamination risks and stop conditions. We do not call a winner because an early chart looks favourable, run many unregistered measures until one turns positive or mix a concurrent campaign change into the result without disclosure. When experimentation is unsuitable, the work produces a ranked implementation plan and an honest observational measurement design instead of manufacturing statistical certainty.
Map entry promise, questions, evidence, objections, choices, action, confirmation and handoff so each step prepares the next one.
Define copy, hierarchy, states, errors, responsive behaviour, accessibility and instrumentation for every changed component or step.
Register assignment, variants, measure, population, sample rule, duration, guardrails, QA and decision rule before exposure begins.
When traffic or conditions are insufficient, rank changes by evidence and risk, release them controllably and report observations without causal language.
05 / Implementation, learning and ownership
The project ends in an implementable register, not a slide deck of generic recommendations. Each item identifies the affected route or component, evidence, hypothesis, design or copy requirement, instrumentation, dependency, risk, owner, acceptance check and release path. The written scope states whether NobleJackal supplies architecture only, prototypes, production design, copy editing, analytics changes, development, experiment deployment or post-test implementation. Work outside that list remains separate. Paid testing platforms, research recruitment, incentives, media, CRM work and third-party engineering are not silently absorbed into the starting price.
Production changes follow a narrow release and rollback plan. Variant leakage, caching, search indexing, analytics duplication, layout shift, performance, accessibility, consent, form delivery and downstream routing are checked before exposure. A successful test is not left permanently inside a client-side tool by accident; the chosen experience is implemented in the owned product where appropriate and the experiment code is removed. A failed or neutral test is also closed cleanly. Public claims and structured data change only when approved evidence supports them.
The learning record keeps the question, evidence, version, result, limitations, segments, decision and follow-up in one place. It distinguishes an observed rate change from qualified pipeline or realised revenue, and states when the evidence is too weak to decide. The handover names who owns measurement, backlog, implementation, review and future retesting. Conversion and Performance Improvement is the separate recurring service for continued research and optimisation; this project does not imply indefinite monitoring. A durable programme compounds reliable learning rather than collecting isolated screenshots of percentage lifts.
Score opportunities by evidence, expected value, effort, dependency and downside; keep rejected and deferred items visible with reasons.
Specify manifest, QA, traffic exposure, rollback, support window and post-release checks for every implemented journey change.
Preserve hypothesis, variants, dates, audience, evidence type, result, limits and decision so later teams do not repeat the same uncertainty.
Assign the measurement, product, sales and technical owners who will validate quality, maintain the change and decide the next action.
Connected conversion evidence
Primary measurement and experience guidance
Buyer questions
It covers the agreed conversion-architecture scope: decision and measurement definition, current-journey and evidence review, friction map, offer and proof hierarchy, prioritised hypotheses, interface or journey specification, and an implementation or experiment plan with acceptance and reporting boundaries. The proposal names routes, audiences, research inputs, artefacts, review rounds and whether implementation is included. It is not an unlimited CRO retainer.
Only when listed in the written proposal. Recruitment, participant incentives, original copywriting, full visual redesign, production development, CRM repair, paid experimentation or recording tools, media buying, paid traffic and third-party licences have separate volume, access, privacy and cost implications. NobleJackal can connect these workstreams, but the project price does not silently include all of them.
A reliable experiment needs enough eligible observations and outcome events for the chosen effect, population and decision rule. There is no honest universal visitor number because baseline rate, expected change, allocation, seasonality and conversion frequency differ. If the agreed surface cannot support a useful randomised test, we propose research-led implementation and observational measurement, clearly labelled without causal claims.
The primary conversion is the useful business action defined in the measurement contract, such as a qualified enquiry or an eligible meeting request. Supporting actions may show progress, but they are not counted as revenue. Where possible, CRM or sales feedback confirms fit, stage and disposition so spam, unsuitable requests and duplicate submissions do not make the journey look stronger than it is.
No. We can verify the agreed research record, instrumentation tests, journey specification, implemented change, experiment protocol, release integrity and reporting method. User behaviour, traffic mix, offer strength, price, competition, sales follow-up and sample size remain external variables. A measured uplift also does not automatically prove qualified pipeline or realised revenue; those outcomes require their own evidence.
