AI SEARCH VISIBILITY MEASUREMENT / GEO REPORTING

Measure search and AI visibility without turning uncertainty into a decorative score.

Authority Measurement gives leadership a reproducible view of conventional search, Google’s generative search exposure, sampled AI answers, source citations, referral visits and qualified demand. It answers the commercial need behind AI search visibility measurement, GEO reporting and AI citation tracking without collapsing those signals into one score. Pricing is confirmed after the property set, markets, prompt panel, reporting cadence and data access are defined in writing. The service does not imply access to every answer generated for every user.

01 / MEASUREMENT QUESTION

Start with the decision the evidence must support.

A dashboard is useful only when its numbers can change a real decision. We begin by naming that decision: whether to repair technical eligibility, strengthen a service page, invest in a market, improve source evidence, protect an established query family or stop work that is producing activity without qualified demand. The measurement plan then identifies the smallest set of observations capable of informing that decision. A ranking report, an AI answer screenshot and a sales enquiry may all matter, but they describe different stages and cannot be added together as if they were the same unit.

Every engagement receives a measurement dictionary. It defines the property, canonical route set, language, country, device, date window, brand exclusions, query families, prompt families, model or platform, sample conditions, conversion event and commercial qualification rule. It also records what the source cannot show. Without those definitions, two people can read the same chart and reach opposite conclusions; with them, the next observation can be compared with the first rather than reconstructed from memory.

01

Decision owner

Name the person who will act on the report and the choices that are genuinely available. Measurement without an owner becomes an archive of interesting numbers.

02

Metric dictionary

Define impression, click, position, mention, citation, recommendation, referral, enquiry and qualified opportunity before the baseline. Platform labels do not automatically share the same meaning.

03

Known unknowns

List unavailable prompts, anonymised queries, model variability, attribution gaps and private sales events beside the measures they limit. An explicit gap is more useful than false precision.

02 / SEARCH BASELINE

Read conventional search by query, page, market and device—not by one property average.

The conventional search layer uses first-party platform data where access is authorised. In Google Search Console, clicks, impressions, click-through rate and average position are segmented by query, canonical page, country, device, date and relevant search appearance. Brand and non-brand demand are separated. A founder-name query at position three does not compensate for a service query at position eighty, and an average across six languages can conceal that one edition is gaining exposure while another is invisible.

Search Console is valuable, but it is not a complete record of all searches. Anonymised queries are omitted from tables, data can be truncated, chart and table totals can differ because of aggregation, and recent rows can still be preliminary. We retain the date range, filters, export method and aggregation choice with every baseline. When an API export is used, row limits and pagination are recorded. A change is never described as growth merely because two differently filtered reports produced different totals.

01

Query family

Group native-language variants by intent—definition, comparison, audit, implementation, provider selection, location or cost—while preserving the original query rows for audit.

02

Canonical destination

Check which page receives the impression and whether that page is the intended answer. Visibility on a historical alias or the wrong-language route is a routing problem, not a content victory.

03

Eligible cohort

Put changed URLs into a dated release cohort. The first comparison window begins only after the platform’s normal reporting delay and must not include pre-release days as if they reflected the change.

03 / AI ANSWER OBSERVATION

Keep platform exposure, sampled answers, mentions, citations and recommendations in separate records.

Google’s generative AI performance report can show impressions from supported generative Search features and group them by page, country, date or device. That is a useful first-party exposure signal. It is not a full prompt log, and it does not show every generative answer outside Google Search. We therefore keep it distinct from ordinary Search performance and from controlled observations made in other answer systems. If the report is unavailable because the property has insufficient impressions, the absence of a report is recorded as unavailable data—not as zero visibility.

A controlled AI-answer panel begins with fixed prompts that represent real buyer questions in each target language. For every observation we record the exact prompt, edition, platform, model or surface where visible, date, access state, response, brand mention, source link, recommendation state and portrayal accuracy. Repeated runs reveal variability; they do not create a census of what all users saw. A brand may be named without a citation, cited without endorsement, or recommended with no measurable visit. Those events remain separate so a favourable screenshot cannot inflate the entire report.

01

Mention

The answer names or clearly identifies the organisation. This measures presence in that sampled answer only; it does not prove that the organisation supplied the supporting source.

02

Citation

The answer exposes a traceable source path to a NobleJackal page. The cited page, context and factual support are recorded because a link can be present while the surrounding portrayal remains inaccurate.

03

Recommendation

The response presents the organisation as a possible provider or source for the stated need. Recommendation is coded separately from sentiment, rank order, citation and commercial suitability.

04 / DEMAND AND ATTRIBUTION

Connect visibility to qualified behaviour without inventing a perfect attribution chain.

Visibility matters commercially when it contributes to an action by the right organisation. We inspect landing paths, referral sources, consented analytics events, enquiry forms, calls or messaging routes, CRM stages and the prospect’s own account of how they found the company where those records exist. OpenAI states that ChatGPT referral links carry a utm_source=chatgpt.com parameter, which can make some inbound visits identifiable. That still does not expose impressions inside ChatGPT, offline consideration, copied links, untracked devices or every assisted touchpoint.

Attribution is therefore expressed in levels. A directly observed referral and completed enquiry can be associated with its source under the agreed rules. A prospect who reports finding the company in an AI answer provides self-reported evidence. A rise in direct traffic after a publication is only a possible association unless stronger evidence exists. Qualified demand is defined in advance—such as market, need, authority, budget range or delivery fit—so a surge of irrelevant form submissions cannot be presented as business success.

01

Observable path

Preserve the landing URL, campaign or referral marker, consent state and conversion timestamp where policy allows. Do not retrofit an origin that the record does not contain.

02

Qualification rule

Agree what makes an enquiry commercially relevant before the report. Volume, quality and progression belong in separate fields.

03

Contribution, not ownership

Use assisted-contribution language when several search, social, referral and human interactions preceded the enquiry. A last click does not automatically own the decision.

05 / DECISION REPORT

End each cycle with evidence, limits and the next action—not a performance theatre deck.

The executive view begins with what changed, what did not and whether the evidence is strong enough to act. It separates verified implementation from platform outcomes: a page can be deployed and crawler-accessible without being indexed; indexed without gaining rank; visible in a sampled answer without being cited; cited without producing qualified demand. Each statement carries its source and comparison window. Where sample sizes are small, we show the raw count and avoid percentages that exaggerate movement.

Recommendations are tied to a diagnosed constraint and an acceptance test. The report may call for a canonical repair, a better commercial destination, a stronger public method, clearer author attribution, new first-party evidence, a native-language rewrite, a narrower prompt panel or no change at all. The next cycle does not begin with a fixed article quota. It begins with the unresolved decision that has the greatest credible commercial value and the lowest avoidable risk.

01

Verified state

Record what was implemented and confirmed on the public canonical site, including route, date and test evidence. This is delivery proof, not search outcome proof.

02

Observed movement

Compare like with like across eligible windows and stable filters. Note seasonality, campaigns, migrations and other changes that may provide competing explanations.

03

Next decision

State the evidence required, the proposed action, the owner and the point at which the action will be reviewed. If the data cannot support a choice, say so plainly.

PUBLIC MEASUREMENT EVIDENCE

Inspect the methods and boundaries behind the service.

These records show how NobleJackal defines reproducible observations, separates AI-answer events and verifies public delivery. They do not claim complete access to search or model data, and they do not manufacture rankings or citations.

PRIMARY PLATFORM REFERENCES

The measurement model is checked against what the platforms actually expose.

These sources define available controls, dimensions and limitations. They do not endorse NobleJackal and do not convert a measurement into a guaranteed ranking, citation, recommendation or lead.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Questions to settle before commissioning AI visibility measurement.

01Can you measure whether every AI platform recommends my company?

No supplier has a complete view of every answer generated for every user, session, locale and model. We define a versioned prompt panel, record controlled observations and combine those samples with available first-party platform and referral data. The result is a reproducible decision sample, not a census of the entire AI ecosystem.

02Is an AI visibility score enough for leadership reporting?

Only if its components, weights, sample conditions and limits are visible—and even then it is a summary, not the evidence itself. We keep mentions, citations, recommendations, portrayal accuracy, referrals and qualified demand available as separate measures so a single score cannot conceal the cause of movement.

03What does Google’s generative AI report prove?

It reports impressions from supported generative AI features in Google Search and can group them by available dimensions such as page, country, date and device. It does not provide a complete prompt history, does not cover every AI answer platform and does not by itself prove a citation, recommendation, enquiry or revenue outcome.

04How soon can a new GEO release be evaluated?

Technical deployment can be verified immediately, but search reporting is delayed and AI-answer samples can vary. We register the changed canonical routes, release date and first eligible observation window before comparing results. The interval depends on crawl, demand and available data; same-day ranking claims are not accepted as evidence.

05What determines the price of Authority Measurement?

Pricing is confirmed in writing after we define the number of properties, markets, languages, canonical routes, prompt families, platforms, reporting cadence, analytics integrations and decision stakeholders. Third-party licences are included only when the proposal names them; the public dossier does not imply unlimited monitoring.
