3D PRODUCT VISUALISATION / CGI / DELIVERY STANDARD

A product render must preserve what is true, reveal what matters and arrive ready for the channel that will use it.

NobleJackal creates 3D product visualisation and product CGI for launches, ecommerce, sales material and technical explanation. The work can include product modelling, physically based materials, studio packshots, hero imagery, contextual scenes, exploded views and web-ready assets. 3D Product Visualisation starts at USD 1,500 per SKU. The written proposal defines the product version, source quality, views, variants, resolutions, channels, review gates, usage rights and files included in that rate.

01 / BRIEF

The job begins with the buying question and the asset list, not with a rendering engine.

Product CGI is valuable when a prototype does not yet exist, a camera cannot reach the important mechanism, a range contains many repeatable variants or a launch needs imagery before manufacturing and photography can begin. It is equally useful when the same approved product asset must support packshots, sales presentations, marketplace listings and future motion work. It is not automatically the right answer for every product. A simple photograph may be faster when the physical item, finish and shot are already available.

We first identify who will use each image and what that person must understand. A procurement team may need a clean technical angle; a consumer may need scale, finish and use context; a distributor may need consistent views across a catalogue; an engineer may need an exploded assembly that exposes otherwise hidden relationships. Those are different communication tasks. They determine the model detail, camera, lighting, background, annotation and output specification.

The asset schedule turns the brief into a countable scope. It records every commissioned SKU, product version, view, crop, aspect ratio, background, colourway, finish, label language, marketplace or campaign placement. It also separates a still render, a 360-degree turntable, a product animation, an interactive viewer and a configurator. They may reuse the same source model, but they are not the same production deliverable or acceptance test.

For this service, a SKU is the product identity and approved geometry, material and label state named in the proposal. A new size may only require a governed variant, or it may require different geometry and new work; a market label may be a texture change, or it may alter the pack. The written SKU and variant matrix settles that boundary before pricing. It prevents a single line item from quietly becoming an unlimited catalogue-production commitment.

01

Use case

Name the decision each image must support and why CGI is more suitable than an available photograph, diagram or ordinary product page.

02

SKU register

Record the exact product version, geometry, finish, packaging, market label and owner against a stable identifier.

03

Shot list

Fix views, framing, background, aspect ratio, resolution, transparency, annotations and target channel before final rendering.

04

Format boundary

Separate stills, turntables, animation, web models and configurable experiences even when they share an approved master asset.

02 / SOURCE

A convincing image depends on a source model whose accuracy and authority are understood.

Source intake may include STEP or IGES CAD, polygon models, engineering drawings, dimensions, reference photography, physical samples, finish chips, packaging artwork and approved product specifications. We inventory the files, their revision, units, coordinate system, confidentiality and owner. An impressive-looking model with an unknown version is a poor foundation: it can faithfully render a product that is no longer the product being sold.

Manufacturing CAD is rarely ready for visual production. It may contain internal parts that will never be seen, duplicate surfaces, tiny fasteners, construction history, tessellation artefacts or naming that means nothing outside the engineering tool. The model is cleaned and organised for the commissioned views while the authoritative source remains traceable. If no usable geometry exists, modelling from drawings, photographs or a sample is estimated separately according to complexity and required accuracy.

Dimensional fidelity is agreed rather than implied. Marketing visualisation may need silhouette, proportion, interfaces and visible details to match the approved product, but it is not metrology, design engineering or manufacturing validation. Any dimension, tolerance, safety feature or technical claim shown in the image must come from a client-approved source. A render is not engineering evidence and must not be used to infer certification or performance that was never tested.

The model passes an early geometry review before material and lighting work obscures the structure. We check the outline, scale cues, seams, ports, controls, fasteners, logos, moving parts and the areas exposed by cutaways or exploded views. Decisions and exceptions are recorded against the asset version. This review is cheaper and more reliable than discovering an obsolete component after every final angle has been rendered.

01

Source ledger

Record file type, revision, units, owner, rights, confidentiality, product version and any uncertainty that affects visual truth.

02

Geometry gate

Approve silhouette, proportion and visible components in a neutral clay view before look development and final composition.

03

Accuracy class

State whether the asset is for marketing likeness, technical explanation or a tighter dimensional purpose; never let photorealism imply validation.

04

Version route

Keep the authoring source, cleaned visual model and published outputs linked so a later product change can be assessed rather than guessed.

03 / SURFACE

Materials, colour, labels and light are approved as product facts, not decorative afterthoughts.

A surface is more than a colour value. Roughness, reflectivity, transmission, clearcoat, grain, weave, normal detail and scale change how a finish reads under light. We build a material register from approved references and identify which properties are measured, supplied, visually matched or interpreted. Physically based rendering provides a consistent model for light interaction, but the result still depends on the source, renderer, display and viewing environment.

Colour decisions are made inside a declared colour-management workflow. Reference photographs are useful only when their lighting, white balance, camera treatment and display conditions are understood. Where colour is commercially critical, the client supplies an approved physical or digital reference and names who can sign it off. A screen render cannot guarantee that paint, fabric, metal or printed packaging will look identical on every uncalibrated display or under every real light source.

Packaging text, safety marks, controls, model numbers and regional labels are treated as governed content. Artwork is placed from approved files, checked for orientation and legibility, and tied to the correct product and market version. We do not invent claims or repair regulatory wording by eye. If a label changes after approval, the affected camera views and output variants are identified through the register rather than replaced informally.

Look development establishes the visual language without distorting the object. A neutral material test checks the product; a lighting and camera test checks the proposed story. One approved test frame then governs contrast, reflections, lens character, depth of field, shadow, background and retouching before the complete shot list is processed. Contextual or generative background work, when commissioned, cannot alter the product geometry, finish or factual use condition and is disclosed where the channel or contract requires it.

01

Material register

Describe each finish through approved references and the relevant surface properties, not a colour name alone.

02

Colour path

Declare working and delivery colour spaces, review conditions and the person authorised to approve colour-critical outputs.

03

Label control

Link artwork, language, model number, market and revision to the correct SKU so a beautiful image cannot carry the wrong product facts.

04

Test frame

Approve one representative composition and surface treatment before rendering the full family of angles and variants.

04 / OUTPUT

One master asset becomes a governed family of channel-ready images, not a folder of unexplained files.

The output matrix distinguishes a clean packshot from a campaign hero, a contextual image, a detail crop, a cutaway, an exploded assembly and a 360-degree sequence. Each has a different job. A marketplace main image may need a plain background and an accurate single variant; a technical sales image may need callouts; a launch hero may use controlled atmosphere and negative space for copy. Reusing a composition without checking its channel can undermine both clarity and compliance.

Resolution and format are selected from actual placements. We define pixel dimensions, aspect ratios, colour profile, alpha requirements, compression, naming and version metadata for web, marketplace, print, presentation and archive uses. A request for ‘4K’ is incomplete without orientation, crop, channel and delivery format. Source render layers or high-dynamic-range files are included only when the proposal names them and the receiving team can use them responsibly.

Variant production is automated only after the rules are safe. Materials, colourways, labels, camera sets and backgrounds receive stable names; invalid combinations are excluded; a contact sheet or review portal shows the exact matrix. Automation can multiply an error as easily as an approved asset. The pilot SKU therefore proves geometry, material, camera, naming and review flow before a catalogue-scale batch is released.

Still imagery does not include motion or software by implication. A turntable requires frame count, direction, loop and delivery settings. Product animation requires storyboard, timing, simulation, sound and film deliverables. A web-ready GLB or USD-family asset requires its own geometry, material and performance checks. An interactive viewer, AR placement or configurator also needs interface, accessibility, integration, product-state and operational engineering covered by the corresponding service scope.

01

Channel matrix

Match each image family to its placement, product-data rules, background, crop, resolution and factual purpose.

02

Delivery profile

Specify file format, colour profile, transparency, compression, naming, metadata, archive and any layered source output.

03

Variant pilot

Prove one representative SKU and its review route before applying the same production rules across a wider catalogue.

04

Adjacent scope

Commission animation, interactive 3D, AR, configuration, ecommerce integration or continuing asset operations explicitly.

05 / ACCEPTANCE

Approval, rights and future changes are part of the visual system.

Acceptance is staged. The client first approves product version and geometry, then materials and labels, then the representative test frame, and finally the commissioned output matrix. Reviews use named decision owners and consolidated comments. Observable checks cover the correct SKU and variant, visible product features, framing, surface behaviour, label content, requested dimensions, file integrity and channel specification. Personal taste can still inform art direction, but it should not reopen settled product facts without change control.

Quality control compares the delivered files with the approved register. We inspect missing or duplicate views, naming, pixel dimensions, alpha edges, colour-profile tags, compression, visible artefacts, clipping, intersections, floating geometry, texture resolution, label placement and consistency across variants. For a web asset, the separate runtime budget and viewer test also apply. For a printed or marketplace placement, the receiving platform remains the final authority for its current rules.

Ownership and reuse are written plainly. The proposal distinguishes final rendered images, edited working files, 3D source models, third-party materials, fonts, stock assets, software-dependent project files and licences that cannot be transferred. It states the commissioned territories, channels and term where rights are limited, and whether NobleJackal may retain or display the work. Confidential or unreleased products are not published as portfolio evidence without permission.

3D Product Visualisation starts at USD 1,500 per SKU. The starting rate does not mean unlimited modelling, angles, environments, revisions, variants, labels, languages, animation, interaction or source-file transfer. Complexity, source condition and output volume are fixed in the written proposal. NobleJackal can deliver and verify the agreed visual assets; it cannot promise marketplace approval, exact colour on every display, conversion, sales, reduced returns, search position or AI citation.

01

Approval gates

Approve geometry, material and label truth, a representative test frame and the final output matrix in that order.

02

Technical QC

Check image integrity, artefacts, naming, dimensions, profiles and variant consistency against the signed delivery register.

03

Rights schedule

Separate final usage rights, transferable source files and non-transferable third-party dependencies before handover.

04

Change control

Price new geometry, variants, views, channels and revisions from their effect on the approved asset system, not from an undefined ‘small change’.

BUYER QUESTIONS

Questions to settle before commissioning 3D product visualisation.

01What is included in 3D product visualisation?

The commissioned scope may include source review, product modelling, geometry clean-up, physically based materials, studio packshots, hero or contextual imagery, detail views, cutaways, exploded views and selected web-ready assets. The written proposal names the exact SKU versions, views, variants, resolutions, channels, review gates, rights and files. Product design, engineering validation, photography, film, animation, interactive viewers, configurators and ecommerce implementation are separate unless expressly included.

02What source files do you need for an accurate product render?

The strongest starting point is current, approved CAD or a production-ready 3D model supported by dimensions, product drawings, finish references, packaging artwork and photographs or a physical sample. We record revision, units, ownership and uncertainty before modelling. When suitable geometry does not exist, reconstruction from drawings, photographs or a sample can be scoped separately. Photorealistic appearance does not turn an unverified source into engineering evidence.

03What does the USD 1,500 per SKU starting price cover?

3D Product Visualisation starts at USD 1,500 per SKU. A SKU is the product identity and approved geometry, material and label state defined in the proposal. The quote also fixes the included views, resolutions, backgrounds, variants, review rounds, final formats and usage rights. Complex modelling, poor or missing source files, extra environments, labels, languages, animation, interaction, source-file transfer, licences and additional revision cycles can change the price.

04Can one 3D model be reused for ecommerce, campaigns, animation and interactive 3D?

Often yes, if the master asset is planned with those uses in mind. However, an offline hero render, a marketplace image, a motion asset and a real-time GLB have different geometry, material, lighting, performance and acceptance requirements. We record the intended reuse at the beginning, preserve a governed master and prepare channel-specific derivatives. Reuse reduces repeated work; it does not make every future output part of the original commission.

05How do you verify accuracy, and what results cannot be guaranteed?

We use staged approval for product version, geometry, material and labels, a representative test frame and the final output register. Technical QC checks dimensions, formats, profiles, artefacts, naming and variant consistency. The client remains responsible for approving product facts and regulated claims. NobleJackal cannot guarantee exact colour on every display, engineering or regulatory validity, platform approval, conversion, sales, fewer returns, search ranking or AI citation.
